Orocovis- Centro ALESPI
Nestled in the mountains of the central part of the
island, the town of Orocovis is the location of our Centro ALESPI
Project. Volunteers collaborate with Salesian Sisters and teachers
during the day at the Colegio San Juan Bautista and direct the Casita
del Buen Vecino, an after-school enrichment program for local children
attending public school. These programs are designed to improve academic
performance and provide a safe, community environment for at-risk
youth.

La Perla- Hogar Padre Vernard
Volunteers serving the La Perla community just outside
the fort walls of historic Old San Juan devote their time to Las Duchas,
a day-use showering facility for the homeless where they tend to daily
operations and collaborate with other homeless resources in the area.
Volunteers strive to create a welcoming atmosphere, where clients can
share in a sense of community, while promoting the rehabilitation and
reintegration of the participants into society.

Caguas- Centro Buen Pastor
Volunteers working at Centro Buen Pastor have the
opportunity to design and implement a new initiative that fuses environmental
education and economic development. Entitled "Siempre Verde",
the project seeks to utilize and propagate the natural resources
of the center, including an 18-acre urban forest and a greenhouse,
in order to establish an economically sustainable program targeting
youth of surrounding communities. Volunteers work closely with
these communities and the center to discover and address their
respective needs, with the end goal of enhancing socioeconomic,
environmental, psychological, and spiritual wellbeing.
