Program Description Becoming a PRCSC volunteer means you'll have an opportunity to make a tangible impact both at the individual and community level. Immersion in the Puerto Rican culture for non-native volunteers is a unique experience. Projects present you with challenges in a variety of aspects, allowing you to stretch your limits, expand your horizons and strengthen your sense of self. The program seeks responsible, motivated individuals who possess a high-level of adaptability, work well in team-oriented settings including living in community, and are capable of creating initiatives in collaboration with local and executive coordinators. A commitment of at least 1 year of service is expected (in some cases volunteers elect to stay for a second year). Participants should expect 40 hour work weeks with weekends generally free. Benefits Travel Expenses- both arrival and departure flight costs are covered. Living Allowance- volunteers receive a monthly stipend of $400 dollars. Housing- living accommodations are provided by the PRCSC, and utility costs are covered. Transportation- each household has access to at least one vehicle, and receives a gas stipend. Insurance- volunteers receive basic insurance coverage, active from October-July. Climate- Puerto Rico is located in the Caribbean and enjoys tropical weather year round. Applications for the '08-'09 year are due March 15. For
